When satellite is the best remote internet option
Satellite is the only option that works independently of ground infrastructure. Start with availability. Use provider coverage maps and local WISP lookups to see what actually reaches your address. County-level data can be misleading.
Match speed and latency to your needs. Remote work and video calls need low latency and 25+ Mbps. Streaming and browsing are less demanding. Telemetry and monitoring need very little bandwidth but high reliability.
